NEW ORLEANS JAZZ FEST

NEW ORLEANS JAZZ FEST

A rebranding project of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest. A music festival celebrating jazz & its deep history to the genre. With my love for jazz and outdoor fests alike, I was quick to envision a jazz festival that was just as fresh, youthful, and exciting as Coachella.

I knew I wanted the logo to feel like jazz. Evoking the rhythm of swinging to the music. Lots of forms and movement. Most of my explorations keep to this idea. To juxtapose this in the type, I kept a bold clear serif to ground it, and become legible when places on expressive colorful backgrounds. The letters from the logo were taken and formed into graphical elements for the brand since the letters were all so expressive on their own. I would top it off with other graphical-overlays + patterns that would become elements throughout the brand.

The deliverables such as tickets, wristbands, and flyers posed a fun challenge. This is where I would get comfortable with the color palette as well as solidify a clear design system. I liked the idea of having multiple color-ways for the same item such as the tickets and wristbands to add a surprise element. I also touched on visuals for their social media.

I wanted to create an experience that would make a concert go-er feel like they were navigating the roads of New Orleans. Posters that could be found in larger cities were created with QR codes to their social medias. The perimeter fence design and parking lot signs also did not go unnoticed!
