Venthaven is the world's only museum dedicated to ventriloquism. I enjoy oddities and museums, so I took the opportunity to refresh the museums brand as a part of a design strategy course. Being a rather small museum, I crafted a brand language that could amplify its voice & presence.

VentHaven, a ventriloquism museum in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, was founded in 1973 by William Shakespeare Berger. Built out of his garage, it showcases over 1,200 dummies and a vast collection of ventriloquism-related items, including puppets, photos, scripts, memorabilia, and more. The non-profit organization is open to the public.

Like a ventriloquist, my goal was to make my subject come to life while retaining its own personal quirky charm( It is a museum of rather unsettling looking puppets after all...). They didn’t have a full word mark, just an abbreviated ‘VHM’, however had a surprisingly charming (and dare I say cute?) logo of a puppet head of which I would end up retaining. Inspired by old-fashion ventriloquism posters, I kept a similar font style and created alternate versions for other uses.

Since VentHaven doesn't have much of a presence being so small, I made note to create pieces for public advertising like billboards and bus stops to draw people in.
