The materials include four invasive plant species from Laguna Beach and the California coast—Ice Plant, Giant Reed, Tree of Heaven, and Dandelion—all known for displacing native flora. Recycled beach plastic is also incorporated. From these, I envisioned products like a cooling SPF balm with ice plant extract, a universal water bottle holder, and a refillable soap compact. Notably, sticky latex from Dandelion roots, similar to rubber, holds potential as a sustainable rubber alternative.

I envisioned a line of products that weren't afraid to show the material of origin, and with that, branding that felt hand-made and in-tune with nature.

This project called for lots of 3D modeling, which was a great experience and challenge. I also got more comfortable with the renderer and heavily improved my output quality.

Each product would be made out of the above environmentally-friendly materials. I made sure that although the materials were minimally treated, that they would still be appealing to a general audience.

Vans proposed the opportunity to present a sustainable solution for their line of shoe wear. I proposed a slide 3D printed completely out of milky latex, a latex substitution harvested from dandelion roots, as a concept. The circular patterns are meant to resemble dandelion puffs.
